14th - 16th September 2012
Cancelled until further notice
In the far mists of time, a Unicorn walked the land, though her heart
was heavy with sorrow for she had lost her Inspiration. For season
upon season the Unicorn wandered, searching each town and village.
Many great men and women tried to inspire her but none were
successful. One day she came upon a small valley with a little fort.
Weary from her travels, the Unicorn stopped at the fort to rest.
Within the fort lived a gentle who displayed great prowess with sword,
rapier and bow. In addition, they also showed skills in the arts,
sciences and other pastimes. Each day that she spent in the fort saw
the ache in her heart lift. After years of searching, she had finally
found her Inspiration.
As the years have passed, the story of the 'Gentle Who Inspired The
Unicorn' has faded from memory and so it is time once again to retell
the story and write a new chapter to this legendary tale.
The Shire of Glen Rathlin, on behalf of Rockall the Unicorn, invites
all Lords and Ladies to come and compete in games and contests of
skill for the chance to become the Unicorn's Inspiration. Contests in
Heavy, Fencing, and Archery will be followed by many other games of
skill and chance that everyone can enjoy, such as jousting, racing,
spears and bowls to name but a few. Tokens will be awarded for those
gentles displaying skill and courtesy, and the person with the
greatest number of tokens at the end of the event shall be crowned
Unicorn's Inspiration.
It will be a weekend of fun, merriment and laughter and will take
place at the Unicorn's Horn tavern within Crawfordsburn Scout Camp,
Helen's Bay, Belfast BT19 1JT between 14th and 16th September 2012.
The cost for the whole weekend will be £40 UKP which includes a bed,
food and non alcoholic drinks from the Tavern.
